|| to pause? or not to pause?
thoughts + links on current events
Friends—
I took a break from writing & posting like usual last week to just pause.
To think, to listen, to make space for things that need to be heard.
I shared a few posts you might be interested in:
and also,
my take on what white privilege is (& what it isn’t)
I’ve felt silly sharing pics of my food, the view from my bike rides or BODYSCHOOL promotions lately, because against the backdrop of what’s going on in the world, that stuff feels so trivial.
I also posted about that here today, but in case any of you are feeling that, “Why post/share/talk about/participate in anything besides this urgent issue at hand?” I wanted to share a brief thought here on the blog with you, too.
KEEP LIVING.
KEEP SHOWING UP.

Another layer of sadness on top of everything that’s unfolding would be for each of us to dim our lights and cease to show up & contribute our precious, singular gifts to the world.
Yes, my work is much less “important” than what’s going on.
Yes, racism and black lives matter more than what I’m having for breakfast or the program I’m promoting.
But it’s not a hierarchy.
It’s a giant, interwoven web of contribution.
Black lives can still matter deeply while we continue to spread positivity.
Racism can still be intolerable while we continue to do our work.
The murdering of people for the color of their skin can still be absolutely unacceptable while we show up in our corners of the world.
It’s not an either/or, it’s a both/and.
Listen, learn, grow, speak up,
and…
keep showing up.
